Tim and Nonie's Larapinta
Story
We are going to trek the Larapinta Trail in the Central Australian Desert in July this year. Well before we go on the trek, we intend to raise more than $6,000, all to aid the very worthwhile work of Indigenous Community Volunteers. We are doing this because the ICV is a multi-year program of well worth activity that we think is worthy of support and because it ads extra meaning our central Australian adventure.
On April 14th we held a very successful Piano Plus concert with more than 90 attendees to enjoy a fine program of classical music featuring some of Australia’s outstanding concert performers. Our thanks to Anna Carson, Dan Curro and Colin Noble, each an exemplar of their art. Thanks also to all our supporters and to PJ Humphreys from ICV in Brisbane who came to speak as well. All income of that event is going to the ICV program.
Please do not stop there. ICV continues to be worth of support and your contributions at this site will be well employed by them and are tax deductable. More information is available via Nonie (nonie.malone@optusnet.com.au) or Tim (timmalone@optusnet.com.au) .
Meanwhile, Nonie and Tim are training with hill climbs and long walks carrying packs. You may see us around Mt Coot-tha, or in the Scenic Rim. Then into Alice Springs for an 8th July start.
We will be very appreciative of any assistance you can give us in reaching this fundraising goal.
Activity
COMMUNITY FIRST DEVELOPMENT LIMITED
Community First Development is a registered charity and non-profit organisation working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve quality of life, wellbeing and social inclusion. Our vision is for an Australia where all Australians live in harmony and where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share the same rights, respect and access to opportunities and rewards, and where their culture is valued and recognised as an asset to Australian society. Community First Development is invited by communities to help them overcome disadvantage. Our role is to support communities with skills and resources not normally available to them. We do this with the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers from all walks of life, from child care to construction, medicine to manufacturing, and gardening to grant-writing.
